About this Blog

From Book to Blog

Our book Where We Are: Threads in the Family History is filled with the stories of our English, Scottish, and Ulster Scots ancestors. These families came to Canada between the last quarter of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. There are a few strands of early Pennsylvania Dutch [German], United Empire Loyalist, and French Canadian ancestry that add further colour to our immigrant tapestry. Not all the stories were included. We had to end the book somewhere or it would never be finished.

As our genealogical inquiries continue, improvements in DNA research and online digital resources have broken down many of our brickwalls. Historical research also continues and sheds light on the world and times our very ordinary ancestors lived their lives.

We’ll use this space to introduce new stories, and, should any inaccuracies in our book become evident, we’ll post the corrections.
